An introduction to the skills needed to get started along your rock-climbing journey, belaying, building anchors and other basic ropework skills, movement coaching and mental preparation. Usually this would include at least one day at a single pitch venue to get started and could then progress onto multi-pitch climbing or some sport climbing to really hone those new found moves!
For climbers looking to expand their knowledge and skill set; whether you are looking to learn to lead climb, get in to the world of multi-pitch climbing, develop the technical and movement skills to push your grade, or just looking to make your climbing more efficient so that you can get more routes done then our instructors will have plenty of ideas to keep you busy, and the perfect crag for every one of them!
Often described as self-rescue, this would focus on keeping yourself out of trouble in the first place! Looking at belay selection, stance management and retreating from routes.
In addition skills such as simple and advanced hoisting techniques, escaping the system and abseiling with a casualty will give you the piece of mind you can get yourself out of any situation.
It may be the opposite corner of the country from us here in Aviemore, but the rock climbing in Cornwall makes it well worth the journey. With amazing granite crags tucked into every hidden bay and cove, and every route a classic this is possibly England's best holiday rock Climbing destination. We would aim to climb at a different crag every day, depending on the weather and tide times, sampling the best of the South West. Oh, and did I forget to mention the Cream Teas..?!
