Fell Running and Mountain Marathon Preparation Courses

Some of my favourite runs:

 

Bob Graham Round - 42 Lakeland Peaks - 23 Hrs 10 Mins

South Clunie Ridge - 7 Munros - 5hrs 30 mins

Cairngorms 4000ers - 4 Munros 7600ft of ascent - 6 Hours

Western 5 Munros in the Fannachs group - 3hrs 40 mins

Ben Lawers ridge - 7 Munros - 4hrs 15 mins

 

Although I am very happy with these times, they are by no means record breaking, however in 2010 I won the A Class at the Lowe Alpine Mountain Marathon (LAMM) and this year came 2nd in the Elite class. This just goes to show there is a lot more to fell running than going fast! 

Introduction to fell running - 2-5 Days

To the outsider the idea of fell running seems totally crazy, running is hard enough as it is, without taking it into the mountains. This course is carefully designed to break these preconceptions and open the door to a whole new world of running, and a whole new way to enjoy the mountains!
We will look at route choice, running technique and kit choice as well as the vital skill of navigation on the move needed to keep us safe.
Before you know it you will be wooping down a grassy decent, traveling light, feeling the miles disappear under your feet and experiencing a sense of freedom and connection to the mountains like never before. (and yes, it is ok to walk up the steep bits!)

 

Mountain Marathon preparation - 2 Days

The beauty of the Mountain Marathon format is that there is so much more to the event than just running fast in a straight line and one navigation error, or carrying unnecessary kit could cost you the race. 

 

We will work on efficient navigation skills in all conditions and  tactical route choice, as well as running technique, kit considerations and nutritional planning and recovery.

 

The course would be tailored to your ambitions, from Mountain Marathon First-timers to those wanting to shave off a couple of minutes and grab a trophy!

 

Guided fell running - 2 to 5 Days

With its wild glens, high plateaus and long snaking ridges, Scotland is a mountain runners paradise. Wether you are looking to tackle some of the many established classic routes, or wanting to discover somewhere new, we can plan an itinerary to suit you.
